Teej Festival Celebrations in Jaipur

According to Hinduism, Haryali Teej is celebrated on the third day of Sawan or Shravan month after the full moon.
How Teej Festival is celebrated?
A day before the Teej, women put Henna or Mehandi on their hands in various designs. Next morning, they take bath to purify and wear traditional attire with ornaments. They worship goddess Parvati for the well-being of their husbands. Women in group sing the songs (Teej Katha) dedicated to the Parvati.
A swing is fixed on the branch of a tree and then decorated with flowers. Women swings and sings together. Married women get clothes, sweets and gifts from their mothers and girls who are engaged get gifts from their mother-in-law.
Teej Procession (or Sawari)
A royal procession carrying an idol of goddess Parvati is carried out accompanying with dancers, horses, chariots, traditionally decorated elephants, palanquins and bullock carts. The Teej Sawari begins from the Tripolia Gate and then continues towards Triplolia Bazar, Chhoti Chaupar, Gangauri Bazaar and lastly ends at Chaugan Stadium. The Tripolia Gate opens twice only twice in a year, during the Teej festival and Gangaur. Tourists can watch this procession and click the stunning pictures.
