The Temple tour of South India package lets you explore the magnificent temples of South and get acquainted with their stupendous architecture. In this 12 days trip you will visit all the sacred shrines of South and it will help you uplift your spiritual inner being.
Day 1. Chennai
The pilgrimage tour will commence with your arrival at the Chennai airport. Our representative will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel where you will stay comfortably overnight.
Day 2. Chennai – Tirupati – Chennai
Have breakfast at the hotel and depart for the excursion to Tirupati, one of the most revered temples in south which draws several devotees from all over the country. After the ‘darshan’ of Lord Venkateswara, you will return back to Chennai, have dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 3. Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mamallapuram
Post breakfast you will depart for Mamallapuram visiting Kanchipuram en route. Kanchipuram is known as the city of thousand temples and is a place of pilgrimage of Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. After sightseeing, continue your journey to Mamallapuram. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to the hotel where you can freshen up and later proceed for sightseeing. You will visit the Shore Temple which dates back to 8th century AD, The Five Rathas which is a group of five monolithic temples all created in different styles and the Krishna Mandapam engraved with several figurines. Overnight at hotel in Mamallapuram.
Day 4. Mamallapuram – Tiruvannamalai – Pondicherry
After breakfast, you will set out for Tiruvannamalai by road. The heritage site of Tiruvannamalai is named after the chief deity of Annamalaiyar Temple, Annamalaiyar. The towering Annamalaiyar Temple and Arunachaleshwarer Temple are few of the places of interest here. Later, you will be driven to Pondicherry and dropped at the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 5. Pondicherry
Have breakfast and depart for full day sightseeing of Pondicherry, now Puducherry. The Pondicherry Museum, Sir Aurobindo Ashram, Church of the sacred heart of Jesus, 300 years old Manakula Vinayagar Koli Temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha are the tourist attractions here. Return to the hotel in the evening for overnight stay.
Day 6. Pondicherry – Chidambaram – Thanjavur
Have breakfast and proceed towards Chidambaram. Lord Nataraj is the chief deity of the place and it is one of the few places where Lord Vishnu and Shiva are enshrined under one roof. Later you will head for the divine land of Thanjavur. Upon arrival, you will be assisted to the hotel where you will have dinner followed by overnight stay.
Day 7. Thanjavur – Trichy
Early morning set out to explore the fascinating temples of Thanjavur. You will visit the 11th-century Brihadeeshwarer Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva with beautiful Dravidian architecture and fresco lined interiors of the Chola period. It is one of the three temples of Great Living Chola Temples, a UNESCO world heritage site. The Thanjavur Maratha Palace, Murugan Temple, and the Royal Palace are the other places of sightseeing. Later you will be driven to Trichy where you will stay overnight.
Day 8. Trichy – Madurai
Post breakfast; proceed for the temple tour of Tiruchirappalli (Trichy). You will visit the celebrated Ranganathsawamy Temple at Srirangam dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is a 1000 years old expansive temple complex which is lavishly decorated. You will also visit the 7th-century Ucchi Pillayar Temple, Jambukeshwarer Temple, Ayyapan Temple, etc. after sightseeing you will proceed to Madurai where you will check in to the hotel on arrival and stay overnight.
Day 9. Madurai
Proceed to explore Madurai after having breakfast at the hotel. The city is situated on the banks of river Vagai and has great cultural and historical significance. The ancient Meenakshi Amma Temple with beautifully sculpted gopurams is the chief deity. The Koodal Azhagar Temple, Pandi Kovli Temple, Thirupparamkunram Murugan Temple are the other tourist attractions of the city. Overnight in Madurai.
Day 10. Madurai – Kanyakumari
You will be driven to the beach town of Kanyakumari next morning. The city is said to be named after an incarnation of goddess Parvati, Kanyakumari Amman. The Thiruvalluvar statue and Swami Vivekananda Memorial on the seafront are few of the tourist attraction of the city. Overnight in Kanyakumari.
Day 11. Kanyakumari – Trivandrum
From Kanyakumari, you will be driven to Trivandrum where you will visit the famous Padnabhaswamy Temple with exquisite carvings, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. You will also visit the Napier Museum and a few other places of tourist interest. Overnight at hotel in Trivandrum.
Day 12. Trivandrum – Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure. Tour ends here.
